Vocal soloists, a chorus, horns and drums add to the big sound expected to accompany Bach Collegium San Diego's latest Baroque Era performance, Trumpets & Tassels: From Leipzig to Versailles. Now in its 13th season and led by Music Director Ruben Valenzuela, the ensemble is set to open with Bach's Easter Oratorio, a lavishly orchestrated work that begins with Kommt, eilet und laufet (Come, Hasten and Run), which finds Peter and John rushing to Jesus' grave to find it empty. Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cardiff plays host to this stirring spring concert, which also includes Lully's festive Te Deum, composed in honor of King Louis XIV.
