Bad Dog Taqueria
Tracy Mitchell's global-minded taqueria has come a long way since 2011, when Atlanta Magazine lauded it as a "singular startup worth championing." Singular only begins to describe this place, which has grown in popularity thanks to outrageously creative tacos such as the We've Got Seoul (Korean pork belly and kimchi) and the Bollywood (samosa filling with curried potatoes).
Notwithstanding a menu that regularly makes jaws drop, Bad Dog is based on a fairly simple concept: fresh, locally sourced ingredients transformed by an eclectic collection of recipes. It's not exactly traditional, but when yucca fries with habanero ketchup and pineapple-plantain salsa are involved, you won't see anybody complaining—including its hometown crowd. In May 2014, the taqueria represented the state of Georgia in Food Network Magazine's "50 Tacos, 50 States". The Travel Channel's Adam Richman also caught the tortilla buzz after paying a recent visit on his new show "Man Finds Food," where he reportedly attained tacos and Zen.
