What You'll Get
Oktoberfest's giant steins of beer remain the most popular of all seasonal festival edibles, easily besting Januaryfest's ice soup and the traditional delicacy of Junefest, live bees on a stick. Enjoy the tasty tradition of the season with today's Groupon: for $5, you get two tickets to Bakersfield Oktoberfest on Oct. 2 in Stramler Park (up to a $20 value). Although this deal includes festival admission only, customers have the option of upgrading at the gate to a party pack that includes beer and food.
Bakersfield Oktoberfest combines foam-capped steins of beer, tasty traditional fare, live entertainment, and playful contests to create an easygoing festival atmosphere. Discover why "thirsty German" is the world's most well-known oxymoron by sipping one of six classic Deutsche brews—including offerings from Hofbrau, Spaten, and Paulaner—or leave both hands free to trick-or-treat for classic Teutonic tastes like weisswurste, rostbratwurstl, and schweinebraten. Guests can display their sausage-powered vigor by performing a traditional Bavarian break-dance to the sounds of the Raving Polka Band or prove their iron-fisted mettle in stein-carrying/holding contests. A safe beer slam tests gulping capacity with a one-liter Das Boot beer stein, but uses non-alcoholic beer to leave contestants lucid for traditional Oktoberfest chemistry exams.
Bakersfield Oktoberfest provides the perfect way to dance on summer's freshly dug grave while training for camping trips to the Black Forest, of which Stramler Park is an exact replica. The revelry runs from 3–10 p.m., and net proceeds from the event will benefit the therapeutic horseback riding programs at the M.A.R.E. Riding Center.
