What You'll Get
A former Balanchine protégé at the New York City Ballet, Ballet Arizona's artistic director Ib Andersen is known for his "rare acuity" when it comes to reimagining the legendary choreographer's works, declared The New York Times. Andersen's annual tribute to the master at Phoenix's Symphony Hall features three Balanchine works -- Symphony in Three Movements, a jazz-influenced ensemble work inspired by Stravinsky's composition of the same name, Apollo, based on the Greek myth about the god of music encountering three Muses, and Walpurgisnacht, a vivid May Day celebration influenced by Faust.
