Ballet Idaho brings the elegant art of dance to the citizens of Boise, delighting audiences with ballet's delicate blend of physicality and grace. The Piano is a celebration of the titular instrument's power, featuring choreography by artistic director Peter Anastos and ballet master Alex Ossadnik that gives vent to the piano's simmering pathos and allows it to express its ivory sentiment in ways not usually possible before it has had several cocktails. Three dances will be performed, set to Brahms waltzes, a Prokofiev sonata, and a medley of classic Gershwin favorites. Pianists Felix Eisenhauer and Juli Draney helm the keys during the show, giving audible form to the three disparate pieces. Each dance is set apart by its distinct musical style and choreography, but all are joined by a common thread of expressing in actions what cannot be conveyed in words, like emptying a refrigerator full of pudding cups onto an ex-lover’s duvet cover. All performances take place in the Boise State University Special Events Center's 435-seat proscenium theater.
