Celebrate the sounds and power of nature when the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra takes you to the countryside with Beethoven’s “Pastoral” symphony, a joyous expression of gratitude of clear skies following a turbulent storm. The famed composer’s quintessential work of “sound painting,” Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 explores the role of nature in our lives. This concert at the Music Center at Strathmore opens with Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, an early neoclassical masterpiece written while the composer was on holiday in the country, and also features Concertmaster Jonathan Carney with Alexander Glazunov’s bittersweet and romantic Violin Concerto.
