About Barb’s Relaxation Massage
While working as a nurse, Barb Kelley hurt her back. A doctor suggested that she seek treatment from a massage and acupressure therapist, and her subsequent introduction to holistic therapy changed her life. Inspired by her own healing experience, Barb earned her license in massage therapy and soon opened Barb’s Relaxation Massage in a corner of her friend’s spa.
More than a decade after receiving her license, Barb has filled out her repertoire with modalities that include hot-stone therapy, deep-tissue massage, and Swedish massage. She supplements her massages with lessons about human anatomy, often referencing the posters of lymphatic and muscular systems that line the walls of her treatment room. Barb’s knowledge isn’t limited to humans, though. She also earned a certification in pet massage to help her 14-year-old arthritic dog, who grew so enamored with her techniques that he learned to walk toward her backwards in anticipation.
