About Barbara Worth Resort & Country Club
Barbara Worth Resort & Country Club sits near the border between California and Mexico, on a stretch of farmland near the Colorado River. It's an idyllic spot, and it has been since 1927, when its 18-hole golf course was first built. Designed by noted course architect Lawrence Hughes, it boasts plenty of subtle challenges, like sloping greens, tree-lined fairways, and the occasional holes with lids.
In the decades since it was built, the course has been modernized and, perhaps more importantly, it has blossomed into a self-sufficient oasis. Besides the course, where visitors hone their swings past twilight, the grounds now boast a steakhouse, a sports bar, and more than 100 hotel rooms, many with verdant views of the Imperial Valley. The rooms are so luxurious that they've attracted guests such as John Travolta, George Clooney, and Helen Hunt, whose snapshots hang on the hotel's "Wall of Fame."
