What You'll Get
Berries are appealing fruits to many creatures, bringing together disparate groups such as bunnies, sea captains, and tropical birds—an unlikely trio that can be spotted loitering in any modern cereal aisle. Pluck diplomatic berries fresh off the vine with today's Groupon: for $5, you get one gallon of pick-your-own muscadine grapes at Barber Berry Farm in Millbrook (a $10 value). This Groupon expires October 15, 2011.
Barber Berry Farm's bountiful acres of pesticide-free berry rows act as a haven for harvesting ripened produce, and with the beginning of autumn rises the muscadine season, which lasts approximately August 15–October 15. Packed with nutritious phytochemicals not found in other grapes—such as superhuman strength—muscadines' thick skins hide their plump, sweet nectar. Weather permitting, grape foragers will be entrusted with a one-gallon bucket to summon any of the farm's eight varieties of juicy muscadines. Guests can visit the farm on the weekends to replenish their fruit caches, enjoying the seasonal harvests of fresh peaches, strawberries, and blueberries while searching vainly for piecrust vines.
