About Bartow History Museum

Bartow History Museum's motto is "Opening a door to the past," because that's how the museum approaches northwest Georgia's heritage. Focusing on the day-to-day life of residents dating back to the early 19th century, the museum's trademark exhibits recreate the homes and workspaces of Bartow County through the centuries.

  • Size: big enough for 200 years worth of living rooms spanning the Cherokee people, antebellum life, and up to the 1950s
  • Eye Catcher: interactive exhibits including hands-on artifacts from Cherokee and early pioneer families, as well as the Civil War
  • Permanent Mainstay: the exhibits that cover iron furnaces, textile factories, agriculture, and arts and crafts
  • Don't Miss: the 1940s telephone booth where students of history can hear the stories of the people who made Bartow County
