"Eat. Drink. Listen. Read." So goes the motto of Barytono Cafe, where a European sensibility informs both the gourmet menu and the leisurely, cultural atmosphere. To home in on pairings for their tapas—which includes fish ceviche, Barytono potatoes, wine-marinated sausage, and fried chickpeas—patrons peruse the exhaustive wine list, which is actually even longer than the list of small plates. For easy navigation, curators organize the list by country of origin: Chile, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Argentina, and the great nation of California.
The events calendar is as generously stocked as the wine cellar. It's got comedy (Wednesdays), jazz (Thursdays), the Barytrio Band (Fridays and Saturdays), guitarist Juan Deluque (Fridays), and singer-guitarist Marcela Cardenas (Saturdays).
