The Fox Valley Orchestra takes listeners through a wide swath of emotion with its latest concert, Songs of Love & War. On the darker side, you've got the Peterloo Overture, which commemorates the historic massacre of protesting workers in Britain. The powerful piece was composed in 1968 by Sir Malcolm Arnold, a prolific film scorer who won an Academy Award for his work on The Bridge on the River Kwai. Also projecting a dramatic, brooding tone is Medea's Dance of Vengeance by Samuel Barber. As for the romance, the FVO comes through with Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 and Ravel's famed Bolero.
