About Battlefield Park Polo Club
During their free time, Battlefield Park Polo Club’s horses graze on 20 acres of neighboring lands. The farm pond is home to local wildlife including Canadian Geese, fish, and turtles. The horses at Battlefield Polo are patient and well-trained lesson horses, trained for polo, on which students learn riding basics while being aided by working students with a one-on-one ratio for riding.
The summer programs at Battlefield Park Polo emphasize safety and introduce horses to children with simple English riding lessons. The children are offered freedom within the safety of the well-maintained fenced farm and under the supervision of 20 adult and teenage women. Children learn the basics of horse care such as grooming, bathing, feeding, and health care. The program offers art classes taught by professionals and an organic gardening system where children learn to grow, preserve, and store their own food.
The summer programs at Battlefield Polo host professional guests every week, including chefs, professional athletes, and veterinarians, who encourage and inspire the children to follow their dreams. During the summer the team complements lessons with games and other traditional summer camp activities such as splashing in the garden fountain. Once the children have developed some skills, they can remain throughout the year and sign up for polo and English riding lessons. The camp continues year round with as many as 40 children participating in Saturdays at the barn where they bring a lunch and stay all day to maintain the friendships they made in the summer.
