Situated at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Bay Area Discovery Museum fascinates pint-sized visitors with its 7.5-acre indoor and outdoor exhibits. The educational funhouse invigorates youthful spirits with hands-on activities, expert-guided workshops (for an additional fee), and multicultural programs. The outdoor Imagination Playground inspires architectural wonders with giant foam blocks, fabric, and slides. Gleeful guests can captivate their inner van Gogh at one of the art studios or rekindle memories of top-secret submarine-reconnaissance missions at the indoor Wave Workshop.
Museum-goers can then head to the 2.5-acre outdoor-exploration arena, Lookout Cove, to commandeer a fishing boat, hike along the lookout trail to catch vistas of the bay, and hunt for artifacts and forgotten pieces of candy inside a shipwrecked vessel’s hull. In Tot Spot, toddlers can adorn themselves in fish costumes before splashing through a mini waterfall or dress up as a bumblebee for a quicker journey up a toddler-sized mountain.

About Bay Area Discovery Museum
Located at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge on 7.5 acres of National Park land, the Bay Area Discovery Museum provides STEM-focused, inquiry-driven experiences that develop creativity and conceptual thinking, critical components of problem solving that are too often missing from early childhood education. They also serve as a resource for the broader community by providing information, models, training, and resources for educators and families.
All of the BADM’s programs and exhibitions are research-backed through their research division, the Center for Childhood Creativity (CCC). The CCC launched in 2011 to bridge the gap between academic research in the fields of neuroscience, education, psychology, and creativity studies with the practitioners charged with raising a generation of future innovators.
Their mission is to transform research into early learning experiences that inspire creative problem solving.
