Today's side deal invites couples, friends, or paired people onboard for an all-day sailing lesson for two at BaySail for $195 (a $390 value), valid on any weekday. Launching from Tidewater Marina, about an hour drive from Philadelphia and less than an hour from Baltimore, BaySail's informative and accredited courses are responsible for helping boating babies develop their sea wings.
Two students will spend the day onboard with a professional instructor getting briefed in boating basics. The lesson will explore skills and knowledge including tacking, jibing, points of sail, parts of the boat, and rigging, among others. Courses run rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an hour-long lunch break. BaySail recommends wearing comfortable boating clothes and light-soled shoes and packing a water bottle and camera.
Must be at least 15-years-old to sail and must sign a waiver; light-soled shoes are required.
BaySail has received some excellent customer testimonials:
Right where the mouth of the Susquehanna River yawns into Chesapeake Bay lies the protected, uncrowded waters of Havre de Grace harbor. BaySail's instructors take advantage of these opportune conditions, operating a sailing school that's accredited by the American Sailing Association. Upholding training standards that have won the ASA's School of the Year award, they lead sailing classes ranging from introductory lessons to certification courses in coastal cruising and bareboat chartering. In addition to lending its fleet for lessons, BaySail's team rents its vessels—from a Capri 22 to a Hunter 460—to members. The sailboats also glide out on chartered cruises, taking guests to nearby destinations such as Inner Harbor and the Sassafras River, where sassafras trees come to spawn every winter.
