Beads on the Ave's combines an impressive selection of gewgaws with expert instruction from the likes of Jen Ursillo, Gem and Mineral Society of the Palm Beaches president, to create stunning works of wearable art. In the Intro to Beading course, students pore over the fundamentals of stringing jewelry, from design, assembly, and tool usage to stealing baubles from the ears of snoozing dragons. A lesson in leather-wrap bracelets teaches DIYers how to craft a stunning trinket with a variety of colorful beads, and a wire-crochet class imparts the intricate knowledge for creating a multistrand piece, leaving each student with a handsome, unique necklace and the ability to knit a suit of chainmail from scratch. Today’s Groupon includes supplies for each class, though specialty beads and more expensive materials cost extra. Check the schedule for class dates and times.
