The instructor gives incredibly clear and patient instruction. She also is good about making you feel like even if you are not doing things perfectly yet, that's fine, it's enough to get results. I will definitely be keeping it up!

Helen was very friendly and knowledgeable. She made full use of time and directed instruction to my specific questions and needs. She also went beyond what I mentioned with additional information and instruction that further helped me with my understanding and enjoyment of yoga. I am very much looking forward to further lessons at the Bedford Yoga Center.

Bedford Yoga Center

Helen Maxwell, owner of Bedford Yoga Center, has been practicing yoga for more than 17 years. As a registered yoga teacher, she helps her students strengthen their bodies, develop coordination, and cultivate self-awareness during private and group classes. In addition to certifications in Vinyasa flow, yin, therapeutic, and restorative yoga, Helen also has a degree from Duke Integrative Medicine and cultivates good karma by offering free gentle-chair yoga to cancer patients and their caregivers.

When Helen isn't teaching adults, she puts her ChildLight Yoga certification to good use during her children's yoga classes. These whimsical sessions incorporate storytelling, games, music, and art to foster personal growth, connectedness, and peace. She also cultivates healing through amethyst mats and reiki. Amethyst bio mats are FDA-licensed medical devices that can boost circulation, strengthen immunity, and reduce stress; reiki works with the body's natural magnetic energy field to encourage balance and healing. Outside of the studio, Helen spends time with her family and makes custom ceramic tiles as decorative items for homes and space shuttles.
