The 1/3-mile track at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway plays oblong host to up to 7,500 spectators and a multitude of weekly automobile events, including NASCAR Whelen All-American Series races. Four divisions of local drivers display their vehicular velocity around the semibanked asphalt oval, including the high-speed pro series and the Wildcat division, where drivers race 30 laps while locked in their cars with a mountain lion. After the checkered conclusion, fans are invited onto the track for the Happy Half-Hour to hobnob with the racers and feed handfuls of bolts to their trusty steeds as kids cavort with Speedy, the bright-red rabbit guardian of the track. The speedway grounds are open for camping during race weekends, though visitors must have a self-contained camper and leave their sites as pristine as they were found.
