Within The Propylaeum, a well-manicured Victorian clubhouse and historic landmark built in 1890, Occasions Divine’s beer flight banquets tickle tongues with a collection of specialty suds from local and domestic breweries. Evenings commence at 6 p.m., kicking off up to three hours of revelry with a beer reception that invites minglers to sip three exclusive samples amid the historical confines, as eyes feast upon period-accurate décor enhanced by modern renovation and glow-in-the-dark area rugs. Once sample glasses run dry, guests will shift their attention to a dinner artfully influenced by the evening’s brewmasters, who play skillful matchmaker between showcased pours and each delectable course. With the exception of the Fast Food and Beer night scheduled April 12, dinners will roll out an ensemble of appetizers, salads, pastas, and chicken, beef, or vegetarian entrees followed by dessert. Guests trade bites with sips of five 6- to 9-ounce beers, each tempting the senses with hoppy aromas and dead-on Sean Connery impersonations. Because event seating is limited to 125 people, reservations are required.
When Occasions Divine planted its roots in a trio of historic locales, the event-hosting company made sure to keep most of the buildings' original décor and architecture intact while adding modern kitchens and other amenities. The staff orchestrates an ever-changing combination of themed dinners, wine and beer pairings, multiple-course meals, performances, and art classes. Pick a date and a mystery at one of many historic Indy spots.
