Contrary to popular belief, yoga was accidentally invented by a monk stretching to unscrew a bad light bulb. Stretch out to energize and light up the mind and body with today’s Groupon: yoga and fitness classes from Bend Yoga & Movement Studio. Choose from two options:
For $70, you get one month of unlimited yoga and fitness classes (a $150 value).
For $70, you get a two-hour yoga class at your home or office for groups (a $150 value). Available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 5:30pm to 7:30pm or during lunch permitting schedule. Students should bring their own mats. Other class times may be accommodated by special request.
Bend Yoga & Movement Studio’s certified instructors lead a multitude of fitness classes that incorporate elements of yoga, yoga fusion, mixed martial arts, and dance. Flow from pose to pose in classes covering traditional yoga practices such as Ashtanga and Hatha to become more aware of breathing and build strength, flexibility, and steadiness. Baby & Me yoga allows moms or caregivers to exercise with their wee ones, and prenatal yoga helps to alleviate nausea, constipation, and back pain resulting from toting a person on one's person. Girls ages 12-14 can hone their discipline and self-esteem in special classes held Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30. Pilates/Yoga Combo and Zumba classes offer workout alternatives to yoga more lively than a sock hop held in a gymnasium full of puppies. Check out Bend's schedule for a complete and updated list of class times.
Bend Yoga & Movement Studio
Rachel Ladd was born to move. The former dance major started strutting her stuff on the ballet and tap floors at the tender age of 2, and by the time she got to the kinetic classrooms of Columbia College Chicago, she'd already garnered experience teaching jazz, tap, and ballet for all levels. When injury diverted her from the dance floor, a series of acupuncture and massage treatments ignited a new interest in holistic wellness that led her to seek certification in everything from massage and reiki to Pilates, sports nutrition, and Zumba. Today, she and her instructors lead classes that she hopes will inspire students to respect and care for their own bodies, sharing the physical and mental benefits of yoga with everyone from pregnant mothers and kids to consummate athletes and the stiff cats lounging in Chicago's back alleys. Styles ranging from Vinyasa and Forrest yoga to Hatha yoga for beginners comprise the studio's schedule, which boasts classes every day of the week.
