Hello, my lady friend has pinched nerves in her legs. An MRI does not indicate any spine problems, but Drs say the cause is arthritis. Would your treatments be recommended? Thanks John

John, Thank you for asking this question, it is a very common one we get. If a nerve is getting pinched then there are two main reasons why that is happening. First, and most common, is that one of the vertebra in the spine or pelvic area has shifted out of alignment and is pinching that nerve. Second is if she has a bulging/herniated disc that is protruding enough to pinch the nerve. In either case, chiropractic can help. We see this all day, everyday in our office and produce great results. The MRI shows mostly soft tissue, meaning the disc in between the bones, not necessarily if the bones are out of alignment. Furthermore, M.D.'s and Orthopedic doctors aren't trained to look for the spine to be misaligned, they are looking more for fractures/dislocations as well as disc herniation. The ONLY way to get rid of a pinched nerve is to get the spine and/or pelvic area lined back up properly and chiropractors are the only profession who knows how to do that. Thanks again and I hope this answers your question. Dr. Tim Beshel
