About Bethel Woods Center for The Arts
Woodstock may have only taken place over four days in August of 1969, but its influence on American culture has persisted much, much longer. Located on the very site of that original event, the not-for-profit Bethel Woods Center for The Arts preserves the 1960s ideals of peace, love, and music while seeking to capture some of Woodstock's magic for those who weren't there. This multi-venue destination is a musical paradise that includes an outdoor amphitheater, intimate indoor Event Gallery, an award-winning museum, and a Conservatory for arts education programming.
Ever since the New York Philharmonic played the Pavilion Amphitheater for the very first performance on July 4, 2006, Bethel Woods has hosted a galaxy of rock legends, including Bob Dylan, Elton John, The Eagles, and James Taylor. Such names headline an events calendar that remains busy throughout the year with everything from yoga festivals to movie screenings. Even when a specific event isn't taking place, members of the public can drop in on the museum, which explores Woodstock and the rest of the tumultuous 1960s through interactive displays and special exhibits.
