Woodstock may have only taken place over four days in August of 1969, but its influence on American culture has persisted much, much longer. Located on the very site of that original event, the not-for-profit Bethel Woods Center for The Arts preserves the 1960s ideals of peace, love, and music while seeking to capture some of Woodstock's magic for those who weren't there. Ever since the New York Philharmonic played the Pavilion Amphitheater for the very first performance on July 4, 2006, Bethel Woods has hosted a galaxy of rock legends, including Bob Dylan, Elton John, The Eagles, and James Taylor.
