The Ice Cream
Ever wonder what a Groupon-flavored ice cream might taste like? Bi-Rite Creamery has figured it out: a ginger-caramel swirl mixed into a vanilla base, then packed with crunchy chunks of hand-dipped, chocolate-covered sugar cones—an ingredient the shop reserves for special occasions. In short, a little something for everyone plus a special surprise every time you come back, just like Groupon.
This limited-edition ice cream, Groupon Crunch for a Cause, draws its bold flavor from organic and locally sourced ingredients. Groupon customers will be the first to taste a flavor that Bi-Rite Creamery has never made before. Best of all, they’ll be supporting two worthy causes in their community.
Bi-Rite Creamery has some relatively simple rules when it comes to making ice cream: try not to use more than five ingredients, and use as many organic, locally sourced ingredients as possible. This passion for working with local producers stems from the shop's desire to create a strong community across the Bay Area. As an added bonus, the farm-fresh ingredients lend bold, vibrant flavors to the ice creams and other treats, earning national recognition for Bi-Rite Creamery's various creations.

Where Do the Ingredients Come From?
Every small, handmade batch of ice cream begins with the addition of organic milk and cream sourced from the Straus Family Creamery, located just 45 miles away. Seasonal fruits arrive from nearby orchards and farms, and the honey hails from a Sonoma apiary. Bi-Rite Creamery's next-door bakery even prepares fresh treats that are added directly to the ice creams, including brownies, snickerdoodles, peanut brittle, and marshmallows.
Where Does the Money Go?
A civic-minded spirit is a vital aspect of Bi-Rite Creamery's values. In addition to embracing sustainable, ecofriendly business practices whenever possible, the creamery supports the community by regularly donating to local nonprofits, schools, and artistic organizations. Bi-Rite Creamery even founded the 18 Reasons community center, which teaches residents about regional farmers and their products.
