What You'll Get
Wrapping food in bacon and cooking it over an open flame unleashes the hidden flavors in such culinary masterpieces as filet mignon and pork-belly s'mores. Savor some smoky goodness with today's Groupon to Bichelmeyer’s Steakhouse in Tonganoxie. Choose between the following options:
• For $20, you get $40 worth of grilled steaks and seafood.
• For $7, you get $15 worth of grilled steaks and seafood.
An extension of the Bichelmeyer Meat Market, which opened in 1946, Bichelmeyer’s Steakhouse grills up a menu of choice beef, chicken, and seafood, cutting all its steaks by hand on site. While diners tune their taste buds with a starter of mushrooms sautéed in butter and burgundy sauce ($6.99), Bichelmeyer's chefs massage a succulent slab of prime rib ($17.99) with a secret amalgam of spices before smoking it into submission by sticking it in a locker full of hard-boiled private eyes. The Smokehouse chicken sandwich—a chicken breast dipped in Bichelmeyer’s signature barbecue sauce and topped with bacon and swiss cheese ($8.49)—arrives bookended with bread to keep the sauce from staining one's astronaut suit before Space Prom. Wearing its own scarf of swine is the bacon-wrapped filet mignon ($18.99), and the orange roughy ($14.99) satisfies seafaring hungers with an Australian fillet sautéed in lemon pepper and garlic butter.
Each oak-paneled booth beneath Bichelmeyer's textured ceiling bears the photos and namesake of Hollywood legends such as Rita Hayworth and Earmuff-Wearing Caroler #4 from It’s a Wonderful Life. On Friday and Saturday nights, Bichelmeyer’s plays host to live music and stays open until 10 p.m.
