Awesome time. You have to get your own kayak and life vest but who cares there were so many places to explore and the people in the rental place gave us tips on where to go and even vouchers for their other location in Marathon. Bring beer.

The employees were nice, but the cove where they are set up is HORRIBLY smelly and filled with swampy sea grass. Don't expect beautiful blue water. The water was very clear, but was more brown than anything else. We did see a nurse and spinner shark under the pier so that made it worth the money I spent, but there was very little wildlife overall.

Nobody helped us get ready to launch the kayak. But we measured to do it ourselves and had a great time boating in the sea!

My wife and I had an amazing time, I highly recommend going on the back country tour. If you are hoping to see wildlife, learn about the area then spend the extra money. Completely worth it.

Absolutely great! My husband and I got a double kayak and went all over the place. We saw sharks, crabs, jellyfish and all kind of wildlife. We're FL natives and it was a pleasure to actually explore what was right under our noses this whole time and be reminded how lovely this place can be. We recommend it. Don't forget hats, sunblock, and baggies to but your phones/wallets in. If you're like us, you will get wet (and sunburned)! Loved it!

We loved that it was out in the ocean and not in a lake. The women was very helpful and took the time to give us some tips since it was our first time. The entry way to get to the other side was very difficult to get through so we didn't get to go around but other then that it was an amazing experience. Will definitely do it again.

About Big Pine Kayak Adventures

The abundance of natural splendor surrounding Florida's mangrove islands of the Great White Heron and Key Deer National Wildlife Refuges inspired captain Bill Keogh to dedicate his professional career to their beauty more than two decades go. His work was featured in National Geographic, The Nature Conservancy, World Wildlife Fund, and Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuges.
