In a heated studio, Bikram Yoga Edmonton's certified yoga instructors twist limbs through pose sequences during classes scheduled seven days a week. For 90 minutes, bodies bend to 26 asana postures that stretch muscles while increasing circulation and untangling students from internal toxins and life's booby traps. The yoga studio blankets students in air heated to 40.5 degrees Celsius as they tone and shape legs during the eagle pose, twist into a half-moon formation to bolster body cores, and control breathing with pranayama techniques taught by the studios' expert yogi profs, each of whom boast 500 hours of training and certification by yoga master Bikram Choudhury. Each sweat-producing class helps abate conditions such as high blood pressure, chronic back pain, and being chased by snowmen.
After class, students are welcome to strap on snorkels and head over to shower facilities to rinse off. Yogis should dress light, arrive 15 minutes early, and refrain from eating one to three hours before class.
