Yoga is unique in that it is the only medieval physical-fitness art that does not involve firing crossbows at a grendel. Bend and stretch bloodlessly with today's Groupon: for $49, you get one month of unlimited sweat-inducing classes at Bikram Yoga Harlem (a $150 value). The modest yogabode is located on the second floor of 518 West 145th Street, between Amsterdam and Broadway.
Students of all skill levels and lifestyles can glisten their way through 26 challenging hatha yoga postures and two pranayama breathing techniques during classes at Bikram Yoga Harlem, which take place in a heated room to promote deep-muscle warming and detoxification. The added atmospheric degrees not only help students stretch and move with ease, but reduce the risk of exercise-related strain, injury, and shiverlimbs. During each class, friendly and experienced instructors guide students through the systematic series of poses, each designed to move fresh, oxygenated blood to every inch of the body, promoting balanced systems, healthy weight, muscle tone, and mental clarity. Classes are 90 minutes long, and are held at many times each day.
Grab a yoga mat, water bottle, and bendable spine before attending a session. Each class will include access to one studio-provided towel, but additional absorbers must be rented for $0.50 each. If you don’t have your own yoga mat or forget a water bottle, both can be rented or purchased from Bikram Yoga Harem ($2 to rent a mat, $2 for Smartwater). After each 90-minute session of stretching and sweating, you'll leave the studio feeling clean and energized enough to hop into a shower to get cleaner and more energized enough to jump out of a low-flying crop duster.
New students only.

Bikram Yoga Harlem
Co-owners Adam Roper and Erik Cummings didn't always sport the healthy bodies they do now, but through years of dedicated practice and, eventually, Bikram certifications, Adam lost 35 pounds and Erik addressed a shoulder injury caused by a previous bike accident. Today, the two yogis share their passion for the heated practice with the help of a team of fellow certified instructors and Bikram Yoga Harlem's unofficial mascot, a pint-sized dachshund named Sebastian Kumquat. The studio welcomes practitioners of all experience levels, with Bikram's series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises catering to even the rustiest of tin men. Balmy temperatures around the 100-degree mark warm the muscles, helping students achieve deeper twists, binds, and bends, and encouraging the body to expel harmful toxins and clingy droplets of T-1000.
