Before deciding that a heated room is an appropriate place to practice yoga, Bikram Choudhury experimented with rooms cooled by frozen honey hams and rooms filled floor to ceiling with water and irritable swimdogs. Experience yoga in a Bikram-approved room with today's Groupon: for $35, you get one month of unlimited classes (a $190 value) at Bikram Yoga San Jose in West Valley. Classes must be taken within 30 days of activation.
Bikram Yoga San Jose encourages both mental and physical development through 90-minute Bikram-yoga sessions. For one month, guests can enjoy unlimited access to the center's 46 weekly classes (ranging from 5:30 a.m. until 8:15 p.m.) to improve strength and flexibility. In a studio that's heated to about 104 degrees, bendies of most ages and skill levels progress through a series of 26 postures, such as the balancing stick pose, which stretches the entire length of the spine, and the tree pose, which teaches you how to infiltrate tree societies. Each posture is specially designed to loosen joints, stretch muscles, and streamline the movement of oxygenated blood throughout the body. The heated setting not only primes the body for stretches, it also helps the heart beat faster and encourages pores to creak open and release their toxins into the air, where they will immediately be devoured by sweaty ravens.
The instructors at Bikram Yoga San Jose are all Bikram certified and meet the needs of students with enthusiastic support. First timers get a complimentary mat and towel (normally $1 apiece for rentals); unlimited monthly students can rent them all month for $30 or bring their own. Read up on yoga etiquette here, check the schedule here for class times, and send an email to reserve your first class.
This Groupon is only valid for new clients. Please arrive 20 minutes early to first class for personalized consultation.

Bikram Yoga San Jose
Everyone on Bikram Yoga's team of instructors has a conversion story. Some, such as Jason Rahlwes, figured out how to rein in pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome by practicing the 26 asanas, while others weaned themselves off medication they had been taking for years. This enthusiasm infuses the expansive yoga studio with a peaceful energy that has drawn a community of 20,000 members.
During 90-minute sessions, up to 90 students flow through 26 postures taught by Bikram-certified instructors, stretching muscles in the heated room. Fresh air circulates within the 2,500-square-foot studio as students practice deep breathing and tone cores while sweating out the toxins responsible for making them feel sluggish or swear at the mailman. Rented mats and towels unfurl along the length of the odorless, moisture-resistant Flotex flooring, and out in the lobby guests relax in various bamboo-bedecked nooks that encourage socialization. Parents can drop off children at the kid-watching room before cartwheeling into a class or taking in a relaxing massage.
