Si la Navidad esta cerca, es tiempo de Too Many Tamales -- if Christmas is near, it's time for Too Many Tamales, a festive comedy that transcends language barriers. The play begins with Maria making tamales for the Christmas party, but panic ensues hours later when she realizes her mother's wedding ring, which she slipped on her finger earlier, is missing. Now, all of her cousins must eat through dozens of tamales to find the ring. Based on Gary Soto's beloved picture book and featuring puppets, dance and lively Mexican music, Bilingual Foundation of the Arts' annual performances of Too Many Tamales -- which are done in both Spanish and English -- is a holiday tradition fit for multicultural Los Angeles.
Please note that some performances are in Spanish.
There will be a special holiday performance of Too Many Tamales on 12/19/2015. Gil Moret will make a special appearance in the play and perform a concert following the performance. There will also be a reception after the concert, featuring complimentary tamales, champurrado, sodas and wine.
