About A Chat with BiographyStories
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? For more than 20 years BiographyStories has worked with families to capture, on video, the history of their parents and the stories of their life legacies. We are video historians trained to make the video production session an enjoyable experience for the people we interview and videotape.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business? Originally we were a video company that produced television commercials and training videos. On a few occasions the owner of a company, we were working with, would ask us to videotape their parents to capture their stories of their lives. We did a few family documentaries and before we knew it we were producing more of these projects than the TV commercials. We found this type of work was more rewarding and greatly appreciated by families and we started a professional history production service to continue this wonderful work.
What do you love most about your job? We enjoy interviewing, on video, family members as they talk about their lives and family. The most enjoyable part of our work is in the editing sessions where we add photographs and other family media to make the history of the family come alive. Once a client comes back to review the finished BiographyStory we find there is not a dry eye in the studio as the family and our staff all enjoy the laughter and the tears of these family legacy productions.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer? Sadly a client, whom we had videotaped, died a few years after the production. I was in a local mall and ran into the daughter of the man who had died. She came up to me and hugged me and told me how grateful she was that we had produced a wonderful documentary of her Father and that she was grateful that future generations will be able to view the interviews of her Father. She said his legacy was captured on video forever for all to know what a wonderful man he was. She told me it was the best present she had ever given to herself and to her family.
