A home is a lot like a Rubik's cube—many people attempt to properly coordinate its shapes and colors, but few can do so without painting over the entire thing. Solve puzzling design problems with today's Groupon: for $10, you get two tickets for a tour of the Inspiration Home at The Cove at Overton, presented by Birmingham Home & Garden (a $20 value). The home is open Thursday–Sunday from November 19 to December 4 (excluding Thanksgiving Day); tours take place Thursday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Birmingham Home & Garden teamed up with architect Chris Reebals and local interior designers to construct the Inspiration Home, a model dwelling whose every detail speaks to modern family living. The home's garage is modeled after La Pyramide du Louvre, and its façade recalls a provincial French dwelling—from its mix of red brick and tan stone to its garden-lined entry walk. A playful mix of modern and antique-style furnishings adorns the five-bedroom floor plan, which maintains a sociable atmosphere of outdoor and indoor spaces while incorporating kid-friendly areas, from Jack and Jill bathrooms to a great glass elevator with direct access to the Wonka Factory. The inspiring abode charmed writers at the Over the Mountain Journal, who wrote: "Whether you’re looking for inspiration or unique finds from local merchants, this house has it all." All profits from the tour will benefit the American Diabetes Association and local schools, which in turn benefits sightseers' stashes of good karma.
