Don't be surprised if Blackod's chef, Anthony D’Ambrosio, looks familiar. Before he was hired by the new owners of Blackod, formerly Trappers, he ran Fish Street Market & Open Kitchen on Yonge Street. He also appeared on a season-one episode of Chopped Canada.
Blackod's new owners tapped the notable chef to transform their eatery's old menu into something more contemporary—a tapas-style menu with plenty of creative seafood options. Chef Anthony came up with crispy European bass ratatouille, mussels in a lobster-infused tomato sauce, and parmesan-topped housemade boar sausage in a charred-tomato sauce. Some of the first people to try his new dishes were Miss Universe contestants when Blackod hosted a Miss Universe Canada party in June 2016.
