$17 for $30 Worth of BBQ and Cajun Food
Black-eyed Sally's owner James Varano opened this BBQ-and-blues southern juke joint after an inspiring trip to Memphis in 1995. Housed within a 100-year-old brick building, the restaurant is filled with southern folk art and blues memorabilia. This re-creation of a southern blues club, complete with New Orleans-style dishes and country barbecue, caught the approving attention of The New York Times, which praised the "blackened catfish ... with its tasty sides of oven-roasted sweet potatoes, collard greens and a cilantro-lime cream saucing."
Black-eyed Sally's slow smokes all of its meat over hickory and applewood in-house. All of the ingredients are carefully selected including the hand trimmed prime beef, fresh seafood, and produce. Even the spice rubs and sauces are made from scratch. The craft beer selection changes to complement the food and the changing seasons.
The restaurant also started attracting some of music's biggest stars. Over the years, Graham Nash, Dave Matthews, Clarence Clemons, and other rockers have dropped in to jam (or just get their barbecue fix). Patrons can grab a bite and enjoy the live jazz, blues, rock and roots acts. Check out the music schedule here
