What You'll Get
Poetry would be comprised entirely of haikus and sonnets dedicated to bread and pastries if poets didn't devour their idyllic subjects before having a chance to write. Experience flavours that elude metre and rhythm with today’s Groupon to Blak’s Bakery. Choose between two options:
- For $20, you get a 9" cake or 8" cheesecake (up to a $40 value).
- For $6, you get $13 worth of baked goods.
With a reputation for baked goods so pervasive that it received mention in a CBC News article about Paczki Day, Blak’s Bakery has filled the air with the scent of freshly made bread, cookies, and pastries since 1918. Tray upon tray of daily baked goodies lie within, enticing customers to munch on a flaky cherry turnover ($1) or gobble up an apple-cream-cheese pound cake ($4.25) rather than their neighbour's ham sculpture of William Shatner. All breads are baked in the original 1918 Peterson brick hearth oven using original family recipes and contain no artificial flavours or preservatives.
Along with its treasure trove of breads, sweets, and doubloon-shaped biscuits, Blak’s bakes a rotation of 9" round dessert cakes with regular selections including a black forest cake, walnut torte, and mocha torte, as well as 8" chocolate chip and cherry cheesecakes. Hankerers of such decadent delicacies should call at least three days ahead to ensure their choice is available. Blak’s is also happy to consider special cake requests.

About Blak's Bakery Limited
Since 1918, Blak’s Bakery has prepared a large variety of sweet and savoury baked goods with care and ages-old know-how. Although the bakery is small in size, it is known for boxing approximately 24,000 paczki per year on Fat Tuesday—a feat that earned the attention of CBC News. In addition to paczki, the bakers create an array of goodies, such as mincemeat pies, 9-inch cakes, and breads, which are baked in the original 1918 Peterson brick-hearth oven instead of on the engine block of an overheated car.
