I had a great deal of trouble using the two groupons I purchased. When I tried to use one in the fall I was told they were not allowed on Fri., or Sat. nights. I would never have bought them had that been declared at purchase time. I tried to use my remaining one for lunch on 12-31, but I was told it was a holiday and could not be used. Also, it would not be honored the next two days Jan 1 & 2. It expired on Jan. 2. I have always liked the Stakehouse ,which is why I purchased the groupons.

What You'll Get

Unlike visiting a new neighbor’s house, visiting a steak house comes with a virtual guarantee that you’ll be welcomed, fed, and trusted with knives. Make a hunger-halting house call with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of steak, seafood, and Italian cuisine at Bloomfield Steak & Seafood House in Bloomfield.

Bloomfield Steak & Seafood House dishes up a dry-aged menu of steak, seafood, and Italian classics. Dinner guests marvel at the building’s 341 years of history before being startled into the present by the wild-eyed stare of angry jumbo shrimp ($12), a spice-flecked starter that careens from the kitchen still glistening from the pan. Having undergone 28 days of in-house dry-aging, steaks, such as the 16-ounce new york strip, fill plate centers, flanked by a garden salad and a choice of garlic mashed potato, baked potato, yellow rice, french fries, or broccoli ($36). Pelagic delights swim amid the menu's steak islands, as well, singing siren songs with such entrees as jumbo shrimp stuffed with jumbo lump crabmeat and butter sauce ($22) and add-on options including broiled 6-ounce lobster tails ($16). Moods can be marinated in soft drinks ($2), house wine ($21/bottle), or a selection of draft beers and spirits.

Built in 1670, the Old Joseph Davis House has served many functions over the years, from farmhouse and hospital to church and steak church. Having played host to George Washington and witnessed the creation of Bloomfield, the house has spent recent decades contemplating the changing times and grumbling about the disappearance of pantaloons.
