Welcome to Groupon, Gainesville! For our inaugural deal, you get $20 worth of pizza, pasta, drinks, and more for $10 at Blue Highway, A Pizzeria in Micanopy or Gainesville. Since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Gainesville: restaurants, spas, sporting events, theater, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power."
If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (10 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll be emailed a gift certificate the next morning. You can print your Groupons, or redeem them with our mobile app. Use them whenever you want until the deal expires—today's expires in six months. If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
Today's Deal
Though spinning massive amounts of dough above one's head is an amusing way to display a coin collection, it requires superhuman stamina to maintain. Rest your triceps and leave the dough-spinning to the pros with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of pizza, pasta, drinks, and more at Blue Highway, A Pizzeria in Micanopy and Gainesville.
After serving as the Executive Chef for the University of Florida, Frank Ruffino decided to open Blue Highway, A Pizzeria, a small roadside restaurant, where he conjures a menu of circular cuisine and square meals out of the freshest ingredients. Inside the warm, cozy, yellow-walled original pizzeria or its Tioga Town Center off-shoot, guests can get their stomach's drums rolling with appetizers of formagadilla ($7.75)—a flatbread stuffed with fontina cheese and sweet, slow-roasted garlic puree—or hummchetta (focaccia bread covered in Tuscan hummus and bruschetta; $6.50) before the big reveal of thin-crust specialty pizza. The massive abruzzese ($10.95-$16) comes heavily laden with mozzarella, housemade meatballs, roasted garlic, parsley, and parmesan and pairs well with a glass of red wine. DIY diners, meanwhile, can build their own delicious Frankenpie out of jalapeños, genoa salami, smoked gouda, shrimp, pesto, and much more. And if you're too hungry to bother with pizza's complicated fractions, bury your face alive in traditional Italian staples such as lasagna Bolognese ($12.95), spaghetti carbonara ($11.95), gnocchi with peas and forest mushrooms ($12.95), and that tastiest of Italian tongue-traps—cannoli.
Along with the Micanopy location's expanded menu, Blue Highway, A Pizzeria's open display kitchen gives gourmands a glimpse of Frank and his team as they toss their pizzas into being, shower them with toppings, and listen to how they sound when played on turntables.
