What You'll Get
Coffee is one of the most popular things to hatch from a bean, aside from fairytale beanstalks and Grover Cleveland. Enjoy brewed-bean bliss with today’s Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of café fare and drinks at Blue Max Coffee in Forest Park.
Designated the Forest Park/Oak Park area’s best local coffee shop by Chicago magazine in 2007, Blue Max Coffee treats farmers and taste buds with equal consideration, serving a menu of fair-trade joe and café eats. The shop’s baristas freshly roast and taste test brews, allowing only the most esteemed coffees to kiss locals' lips. The primo potables are complemented by homemade fare such as the breakfast panini with applewood-smoked bacon, spinach, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese ($8.50). Organic steel-cut oats, granola, blueberries, bananas, vanilla soy protein powder, and steamed milk conspire to create just-right bowls of breakfast porridge ($6.75) ideal for taunting bears of all sizes.
Lunch munchers can indulge in an assortment of soups, salads, and sandwiches, including a pride of paninis and a cuban pressed sandwich that serenades senses with a six-piece choir of ham, swiss cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and dijonase ($8.75). Although the kitchen closes at 2 p.m. daily, baristas continue to brew a variety of beverages until 3 p.m.
A member of Chicago Fair Trade, Blue Max prides itself on supporting small farmers while serving sensational sips. Denim-colored walls, exposed-brick accents, and seasonal outdoor seating create a comfortable vibe ideal for perusing the paper or discussing current events with prodigal, coffee-swigging child doctors.
