Good music but not very many people heard about it. Need more advertising.

We've been to many, many, Blues Festivals over the last 30 years. This was the best. The people were all so friendly, there weren't long lines, the line up was fabulous , the food was great, the weather wasn't too hot, parking was good, there was plenty of shade, there was nothing to "not like!" Thank you for a festival well thought out ...keep it up please!!

On Saturday, July 27, the Calaveras County Fairgrounds transform into a celebration of blues and BBQ. The festivities last from 12–10 p.m., during which time attendees can set up lawn chairs and listen to various blues artists. The lineup includes the likes of John Lee Hooker Jr., a Grammy-nominated blues singer, and Daniel Castro, a guitarist and singer straight from San Francisco's blues scene. As their music fills the air, it mingles with the aromas of slow smoked pork, beef, and chicken. Attendees can sample BBQ from various vendors, who compete for prizes in the People's Choice Event.

About Blues and Bones Festival

The blues can spawn from many different things. A life full of regrets. A failed relationship with a former sweetheart. A favorite Cheers episode interrupted by the Public Broadcasting System. With the blues, there's always a story in between the notes of every chord progression. At some point, however, all of that melancholy comes full circle, and the music transforms into a raucous celebration of life. That's certainly the case at the Blues and Bones Festival, where crowds gather to hear regional blues artists, from soulful singers to lightening-fast guitarists, share their euphonious stories to cheering crowds.

Though the expressive performances of these artists certainly shake attendees right down to their bones, the "bones" in the event title actually refers to the remnants of slow-smoked barbecue. In addition to the music, the outdoor festival culls a melange of food vendors who add their own signature seasonings to pork, chicken, and beef.
