About Bobby Ray's Pennsauken Tavern

Call it fate, or call it mere coincidence. One day, Bobby Ray Harris happened upon an ancient wooden box inside his tavern. He was poking around in a crawlspace of the 105-year-old building when, buried beneath a mallet and a handful of corks, he found a recipe for a nameless beer. Bobby Ray sent the instructions to some local brewers, who proceeded to craft the first batch of a truly special beer they called Pennsauken Crick.

The brew is a highlight of the beer list at Bobby Ray’s Pennsauken Tavern, which is saying something—the selection includes nearly 30 drafts and more than 90 bottled and canned options. These pours complement the kitchen’s creative spins on barroom classics, from burgers topped with mac and cheese to ravioli doused in champagne sauce. As if the food and drinks weren't enough to draw in crowds, Bobby Ray’s regularly hosts open mics in which poets one-up each other with dramatic readings of the tavern's original beer recipe.
