Definitely gentler than I expected based on other people’s experiences of rolfing. I could feel where my muscles were tight but it wasn’t painful. I do a lot of yoga, though, so that probably helps. He explained everything he was doing & my shoulders feel a lot looser.
Very knowledgeable. Would recommend 11/10. He gave tangible tips for everyday life on how to improve my posture and ease tension in the body.
I felt a big difference compared to before I came into my appointment.
Going to recommend to friends :)
I was delighted to experience the bodywork by Michael. He is a skilled rolfing practitioner who not only worked out my painful spots, but explained his techniques along with additional ways I could help myself at home. Please don’t come in expecting a ‘spa massage...’ This is far more extensive and effective.
Great first experience with Michael Mitchell for structural integration session. He has extensive knowledge of body mechanics, and was great at zeroing in on various trouble areas - of which I have many. I made good progress after my first session - and came away with a better understanding of some of the problems aggravating my knees. I look forward to returning to make more progress! Thanks!

####Fascia: A Twisted Web We Didn’t Weave Ourselves
Massage can be more than just relaxing; it can actually correct physical issues such as chronic pain. Learn about one such issue with Groupon’s look at the fascia.
Fascia, a dense connective tissue, is essentially a net that holds in muscles and blood vessels. Similar in structure to ligaments and tendons, fascia allows muscles to slide over each other during movement, keeps organs in their place, and gives nerves a protective wrapping for when they intersect with muscles. Fascia is classified into three categories: superficial fascia is a loose layer of tissue just below the skin’s surface; deep-muscle fascia is more intricate and binds muscles together; and visceral fascia envelops organs so that they never feel lonely or afraid.
Osteopathic doctors are trained in fascia form and function, and so they gently move the body to restore full movement to fascia. Fascia-manipulation techniques typically focus on deep muscular fascia, and myofascial therapy is thought to relieve soft tissue of pain. Chronic pain can result from poor posture or misalignment, which leads to tightness, and myofascial release seeks to make fascia more pliable.
