Actually visited in January during the Paws in the Park event. Gardens is always a nice quiet place to come to and relax. Wish they would have more days during the year that they would allow pets.

What You'll Get

Because plants have long been jealous of our ability to live indoors, they attempt to infiltrate our finest mansions and universities by slowly climbing stony facades. With today's Groupon, take a trip to the place where floral strivers meet to plot against humanity: for $8, you get admission for two to Bok Tower Gardens (up to a $20 value) in Lake Wales. Both admission passes must be redeemed on the same day.

While strolling through Bok Tower Gardens, nature buffs can treat their senses to the sights, sounds, and scents of the native wildlife and beautiful plants that lurk within the gardens. Designed by famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., Bok Tower Gardens is a national historic landmark that was thought into existence in 1921 by author and philanthropist Edward Bok. The garden features attractions such as the 205-foot, neo-Gothic singing tower, whose 60-bell carillon chimes the theme to Everybody Loves Raymond at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

TripAdvisors give Bok Tower Gardens an average of 4.5 owl eyes and three InsiderPagers give it an average of four stars. Four Citysearchers give it a perfect five-star average.

  • The air at this garden is always very relaxing; it is like it's own atmosphere -- a world apart in slow motion. I could sit and stare at the swans in the pond by the carrilon for hours and feel the kinks and stress fall off my shoulders. – meezermax, TripAdvisor
  • It is great for picnics, taking pictures, relaxing, and enjoyinga [sic] break from the everyday life. There are lots of nice places to hike, as well as places to just sit and enjoy nature. – kreaves, Citysearch

About Bok Tower Gardens

Bok Tower Gardens, a National Historic Landmark, has enthralled visitors since 1929. When founder Edward W. Bok visited the area near Lake Wales, Florida, during winter retreats, he became enchanted with the beauty and vistas from Iron Mountain. From the hilltop, 298 feet above sea level, Bok marveled at serene sunsets and was inspired to preserve the area for future generations. Famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. was brought in to create a 50-acre garden, which has ferns, palms, oaks, and pines fashioning a lush backdrop with flowering foliage. At the center of the garden, the Singing Tower, designed by Milton B. Medary, features 60 carillon bells ranging in weight from 16 pounds to 12 tons, which play daily. Also at the heart of the garden is Pinewood Estate—a Mediterranean-style mansion built in the early 1930s by Charles Austin Buck, a Bethlehem Steel vice president. The estate is open to self-guided tours and decorated during the holiday season. Visitors can look forward to special events hosted at Bok Tower Gardens throughout the year, with refreshments available at the Blue Palmetto Café and souvenirs at the gift shop.
