What You'll Get
Running was popular in Europe long before it caught on in America, which is why most races are measured in kilometers instead of miles and why most of the Pilgrims were eaten by bears. Race to the top of the food chain with today's Groupon: for $57, you get an individual race entry (a $50 value), unlimited boot-camp training (a $65 value), and an official T-shirt for the Bold r Dash 5K race (a $115 total value). Choose between the following start times:
• Saturday, August 13 at noon
• Saturday, August 13 at 12:45 p.m.
During the first Bold r Dash sprinters of all ages will dash through a 5K military-style mud race to conquer obstacles and challenge physiques while supporting North Kingstown schools. On race day competitors will traverse the grounds of the Yawgoo Valley Ski area, slipping under wires, scrambling over obstacles, and surmounting a climbing wall as they truck through thick mud. Unlike the friendly, predictable surface of a treadmill, mud amps up workout intensity by tugging feet into its soft surface, hitching a ride on socks, and withholding its verbal encouragement.
Before the race, dashers may partake in unlimited boot-camp workouts, including special Bold r Dash sessions at local gyms such as Alpha Fitness and Christina Rondeau Kickboxing. On Sundays, the traveling Bold r Dash outdoor boot camps shuttle aspiring racers through agility and speed drills, bodyweight exercises, and at-home obstacle courses involving climbing over refrigerators and bench-pressing offspring. Postrace, an all-day after party shares family-fun activities such as climbing walls and tasty eats with members of all military branches, fellow mud-rakers, and awe-struck family and friends.

BoldrDash adds variety to the traditional 5K run, peppering their courses with more than two-dozen obstacles. But they don't want participants running between a few sparse obstacles, they want them climbing, swinging, sliding, and swimming all the way to the finish line. They even offer boot-camp training classes to prepare runners for the event. More important than providing a solid workout, Bold r Dash's events donate proceeds to local charities, schools, and community organizations.
