What You'll Get
Lao Tzu once said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and a book with a thousand pages begins with a foreword by Malcolm Gladwell." Advance toward epilogues with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of books at The Book House.
Filling three floors of a Victorian home constructed in 1863, the nooks and crannies of The Book House—named Best Used Book Store in 2006 by the Riverfront Times —are packed with an extensive selection of more than 350,000 new, used, rare, and out-of-print titles. Its bound stories cover an eclectic selection ranging from dense philosophical treatises and extensive historical tomes to science-fiction epics and strategy guides for Duck, Duck, Goose. A collection of staff picks bears editions of Kathryn Stockett's bestselling novel The Help ($16), George R.R. Martin's A Dance with Dragons ($35), and Kenneth Slawenski's J.D. Salinger: A Life ($27), whose pages eagerly await loving hands to dog-ear their pages. Shoppers descend a winding staircase to the downstairs level—affectionately deemed "The Dungeon"—which is stocked with bargain reads and comfy throw pillows stuffed with feathers plucked from Shakespeare's quills. Committed to enhancing their community, The Book House donates a portion of all its proceeds to the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition and the Second Chapter Life Center.

About The Book House
The Book House is a family-owned and operated book store that's been a local favorite since it first opened in 1986. Culled from hundreds of collections, auctions, suppliers, and rogue librarians in the past 30 years, the books range from new to rare to out of print, covering any subject from history and philosophy to graphic novels and children's books. While The Book House has a passion for giving older books a second life, over 50% of their collection is comprised of new and frontlist titles, as well as greeting cards, gifts, blank journals, and coloring books. The shop also hosts a variety of events, including book signings, open mic nights, and other events featuring authors, artists, and musicians.
