A well-worn book inspires feelings of comfort, while well-worn brake pads induce fear of collisions into fruit carts. Opt for safer second-hand goods with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of used books and DVDs plus a free small drink at BookMaze in Tempe.

BookMaze, a 5,000-square-foot, two-story, used-media emporium boasts scores of shelves that support DVDs and more than 100,000 books. Customers sink their faces into a variety of hardcover and paperback written works ($1–$12), or feed DVD players or misbehaving toasters with a previously viewed DVD ($3–$5). Comfy chairs and couches interspersed among the stacks provide places of repose to browse this independently owned shop's many genres and titles. Groupon-holding bookworms may imbibe a free small drink, such as a 12-ounce hot cappuccino ($2.50 value) or 16-ounce iced green-tea latte ($3 value), from Edge of the Maze Café, located on the first floor. BookMaze frequently hosts happenings such as tea tastings; board-game nights; and sudden-death, speed-reading tournaments. Customers can check their events page for times and dates.

Customer Reviews

The shelves are labeled but be prepared to dig! The place is wall to wall books and smells of it -- in the best way possible. Hope you love it as much as I did!

I didn't find any of the particular books I was looking for but we did leave with a stack that we got at a great price. Would definitely go back again - even without a Groupon!
