Julius Caesar uttered his famous declaration, "I came, I saw, I conquered," after he became the first Roman in history to clear all of the senate's dinner plates, including the trough of the senate horse. The award-winning Bootlegger Bistro tosses and sears its Italian dishes in house-special sauces and seasonings as live music floats nightly between its elegant rooms. A choice of the dinner menu's hot mixed antipasti dishes include the Bootlegger, which blankets shrimp scampi, fried calamari, and meat ravioli in a house special marinara sauce. The vegetarian antipasti keeps the marinara but swaps proteins, favoring portobello mushrooms and ricotta ravioli flexing non-meaty muscles. Hot panetti bread and tomato basil dip accompany Bootlegger's entrees to the dinner table, such as pollo angelo, a chicken breast hiccupping after its saute in wine and artichoke hearts. Saltimbocca di vitello stuffs genoa salami and cheese into veal scaloppini before it rolls through authentic Italian batter made from the eggs of Legionnaire-helmet-wearing hens, finally splashing into a saute of mushrooms and wine. Sixteen-ounce thick-cut Bootlegger new york strips hotfoot across the kitchen grill onto patrons' plates, where wreaths of homemade onion rings await them.

Bootlegger's extensive drink menu pours 18 red and 15 white and blush wines by the glass, including cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, merlot, chardonnay, and pinot grigio. Diners may sip in time with live jazz, soul, and pop performances throughout the month as well as Monday night open-mic cabarets hosted by a sentient bathtub full of dubious gin. Beyond the restaurant's inviting stone façade and arched entrance, spaces such as the piano room and the wine room cosset patrons in luxurious decorations and elegant table settings.
