Pasta was originally a building material, but fell out of favor with carpenters after the invention of gingerbread. Build a solid meal with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of Italian cuisine at Boskos Trattoria in Calistoga.

The skilled chefs at Boskos Trattoria blend Italian ingredients together, creating every authentic pizza, pasta, bread, and dessert they offer from scratch, by hand. Fire-roasted peppers introduce diners to their meal, communicating the flavors of goat cheese, ricotta salata, pine nuts, and currants through taste bud telepathy ($8.50). Filling plates and stomachs alike, heaping mounds of cheesy risotto pecorino use roasted zucchini, squash, corn, and red onion to conjure images of dinner gatherings with the squash family ($14). To outsource dinner to an undersea position, dine on delicate linguini cefalu, with cherry stone clams, prawns, and calamari frolicking in a sea of red tomato calabria chili broth. Boskos' wood-fired ovens bake pizzas such as the applewood-smoked pepperoni ($16.50) to a golden, bubbly brown before ejecting the delicious disks directly onto the tables of hungry patrons.

With exposed stone walls and soft lighting, the chic ambience at Boskos Trattoria whisks diners to a land full of bucolic vistas and historic ruins made of meatballs. A wide assortment of wine from the bar stands ready to pair with every color in the visible sauce spectrum.

Bosko's Trattoria

Between Bosko's Trattoria’s exposed stone walls, ruby-hued booths and tables showcase sandwiches stacked high, fresh pastas made daily, and pizzas baked to a golden finish in a wood-fired oven. The building itself dates back to 1888, when it was constructed from locally quarried stone and enhanced by a rich mahogany bar and booths. In the kitchen, chefs bake house-made focaccia garlic bread to commence culinary adventures, as well the burrata appetizer. Artfully crafted tiramisu and cheesecake cap off meals, which the wait staff serve under a hanging mirror and soft lighting. Libation connoisseurs top off glasses with beer, coffee, and your choice from 30 wine selections.
