Zumba Express instructor Jacqueline Batchelder, a professional dancer and former Miss Philippines USA, teaches high-energy Latin dance moves in a festive setting. Batchelder chops and blends the patented Zumba recipe with Bollywood, hip-hop, swing, and other styles to create a series of 90-minute daily workouts, inspiring students of all skill levels to shimmy away calories and sculpt legs that can roundhouse kick through a refrigerator. Scheduled to coincide with the conservatory’s Youth Enrichment Series, the classes engage caregivers in hip-shaking abandonment while children in third–eighth grades learn about music and dance.

A short walk from Symphony Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts, The Boston Conservatory holds Zumba classes in its newly renovated theater complex. Instructor Batchelder’s resumé as former shape-whipper to stars such as Jane Fonda and Kevin Bacon ensures far fewer than six degrees of separation between clients and a physique that's in better shape than a bodybuilding rhombus.
