The Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is set to perform two of the most famous classical works ever written. When they converge on Boston Symphony Hall, these bright young musicians will launch into Beethoven's epochal "Eroica," a symphony which changed music forever. This early 19th-century piece is credited with heralding a bold new musical language and the orchestra aims to recapture its extraordinary newness and now-ness. They'll also perform what's arguably the most famous classical composition of the twentieth century -- Stravinsky's powerful The Rite of Spring. The BPYO will take on its kaleidoscope of complex rhythms, stunning harmonies and brief and powerful melodies.
