Music director and conductor of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Kent Nagano got his start as an assistant conductor to Seiji Ozawa at the BSO. He makes his return as the much-honored maestro of this acclaimed Canadian symphony, with Stravinsky's lyrical, lovely Rite of Spring. They'll be joined by Russian wunderkind Daniil Trifonov for Prokofiev's challenging Piano Concerto No. 3. Though he's just 24 years old, the expressive Trifonov's taken the concert world by storm as a pianist and composer, winning medals at the Chopin, Rubinstein and Tchaikovsky Competitions, three of the most prestigious contests in the world. The concert kicks off with Debussy's pastoral Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.
